I passed I passed! My driving lah.
Actually all the luck and nice tester stuff didn't some true. Firstly, I got a super slack warm-up instructor who was more concerned about winding down the window to talk with his colleagues, and acting super important cos we had the "warm-up" plate displayed (so the rest in the circuit are supposed to give way to me).
Then when I was on the road during warm-up, it began to drizzle! I was trying to recall how to use the wiper and headlights, at the same time the sky would give me face and pour after 4.30pm.
My warm-up instructor told me,"Eh, you don't look scared leh. Just remain like that, just relax, relax, just relax, sure okay one, just relax......"
Gosh, I was getting panicky about the weather and blaming on my luck for getting such a slack instructor on my important, and all he told me was relax, relax, relax. But anyway, I guess that was the best thing he'd done for me. To get me to relax :)
I was one of the first few to finish warm-up (thanks to his slackness) and was the FIRST to sit in the waiting room where they do the balloting of test routes, but the LAST to get out of that room. The chief tester joked that those late comers will get tests routes 6 and 7 as punishment cos they're difficult. Guess what, I was the most punctual yet I got route 6 during the balloting. So l u c k y right. When the testers came one by one to "fetch" us, mine came the last k. So I saw everyone went out, happy to escape from the room with the tensed-up atmosphere, while I was left there to rot.
Anyway, prior to this during my revision lessons, I just had this intuition that my test route will be either 6 or 7. Though I went through all 10, I clearly remembered my instructor told me he's gonna make me do it, unlike other instructors who would go all out to avoid them cos of the heavy traffic and bad road conditions. I think it's God's way of getting me mentally prepared.
Moreover, during the test itself, the sun was out. Thank God that I chose to believe He will go before me. My circuit was fine, and I had this feeling my tester is gonna pass me, just a matter of whether it is 2 or 18 demerit points.
Actually I committed all the mistakes in the last 5 minutes of the test. There was this oncoming car who was not very far nor very near so I didn't dare risk a right turn. But the tester was like "go, go turn now". By the time he said that, I didn't think it was safe based on my own judgement, so it was 4 points: delay in moving off and speed too slow. Quite lame actually.
The lamer thing: on the filter lane my signal was cancelled. I re-signalled right at the point he said "signal again" (such a stupid coincidence), so I got another 2 points cos he thought I signalled based on his instructions. HAHA, how I waste my points.
Then when I turned back to school there was this man who wanted to cross right at the entrance in front of my car. Since there was a slope I had to accelerate a little then apply brake, but the tester felt I didn't brake enough to give way to that man (who was crossing without a pedestrian crossing anyway), so another 2 points for incorrect braking technique. Right at the school gate when you thought the test is finally over u get points again lah. hahas.
Back in the school the other testees were talking about their testers and I heard some didn't even do u-turn. Another said her testee was friendly like any other instructor in school.
When I think about it, it's quite a heartache to see yourself earning those LAME points, cos you'll naturally think "huh like that also wrong arh". But after thinking hard, 8 points is okay lah. At least those are trivial stuff, not like striking pole or changing lane abruptly.
Plus, I didn't wear shorts k! Who said you have to dress "appropriately" in order to pass :)
My dearest hongkong here I came tomorrow!!
